A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

the long wait is definitely over. I’ve probably been anticipating this remake since the release of Rob Zombies Halloween. NO_HITS to the original vision of Wes Craven’s masterpiece, but finally this movie can be realized in a darker sense, as we’ve seen in Halloween, with its gritty, grind-house 70’s feel.

FOR THOSE WHO’VE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK && DON’T KNOW THE BASIS OF THE MOVIE: A group of suburban teenagers are being haunted in their dreams by a “horribly disfigured child rapist” known as Freddy Krueger.

What I do know:

  • Produced by Michael Bay (who worked on classic remakes: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Friday the 13th & The Unborn
  • Freddy Krueger (played by Jackie Earle Haley, who played the role of Rorschach in Watchmen) “will not” be cracking jokes. This could be a good thing, more serious tone can actually add to the fear of the movie. PLUS he’ll be closer to his 1984 counterpart
  • CAST: Rooney Mara will play the role of Nancy Thompson (and she is also contracted for a sequel) Other confirmed cast members include Thomas Dekker as Jesse, a jock on the swim team, and Kellan Lutz as Dean, “a well-liked, well-off high school jock.” Katie Cassidy, Connie Britton and Clancy Brown will also star.
